Intro to Silver Clay - Sat, Dec 21, 2019 10 am - 1 pm
Explore the fun of silver clay in this lively class designed to de-mystify the basic techniques needed to create original, fine silver jewelry & embellishments at home…without a kiln! Instructor, Cristine Grimm a veteran teacher certified in both Art Clay® and PMC®, will introduce you to the medium with a low stress but thorough introduction to the basics of rolling, texturing, cutting, drying, sanding, firing, polishing and applying a patina. We’ll start small, turning a lump of malleable, non-toxic metal clay into beautiful, original jewelry that’s 99.9% pure silver. We’ll discuss the types of clay available, tools required, how to choose textures, and more. You’ll leave class with one or more fine silver pieces and the confidence and skill to try it again.
Class fee includes silver clay plus the use of all kits, tools, and consumables necessary to complete your project(s). Most students in this class complete 1 - 3 finished jewelry pieces depending on size.
